On October 7, the Rotary Club of San Bernardino was honored to welcome Councilmember Treasure Ortiz as our guest speaker. Councilmember Ortiz shared valuable insights into the current state of our city, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities shaping San Bernardino’s future. Her presentation focused on the revitalization of our downtown area, offering updates on ongoing projects and initiatives designed to foster economic growth, community engagement, and civic pride. With her forward-looking perspective, Councilmember Ortiz encouraged members to consider how collaboration between local leaders, businesses, and residents can help move our city toward a brighter, more sustainable future.

Rotary in Action: Service, Fellowship, and Impact

Looking ahead, there are plenty of opportunities to roll up our sleeves and make a difference:

• Art for Peace & Fall Fun – October 21
  Creativity and fellowship come together on this day. The Art for Peace judging will take place, showcasing the vision and talent of young artists. Later, our Social Committee invites everyone to enjoy some Fall Fun, a chance to celebrate the season and strengthen our Rotary bonds.
• Day of Love – December
  The Sophomore Class is organizing a special “Day of Love” for children battling cancer at Loma Linda University. This heartfelt project will bring joy, comfort, and encouragement to young patients and their families during the holiday season.

• Polio Plus Update
  World Polo Day is October 24th. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised $338 — enough to provide 3,380 vaccinations! With a yearly goal of $1,000, we’re well on our way. Let’s keep the momentum going — bring your contributions to the next meeting and help us “break the ceiling” together.
